I feel like the whole turn of events have kind off boiled over and we are going to see some interesting changes in how the world will tacle racism and police brutality.

I can't help but thinking we are in a process thats been increasinhly divisive over the years, though, and that this has added fuel to the fire, but it's good to see changes in ending systemic racism over the world.

That aside Ive reached a point where I dont want to be as politically active on Facebook as I used to be, because its exhaustive and when you trie to ask important questions people will attack you.

But I sincerely hope that there will be changes eventually, as painful and as exhaustive as this is

It's not enough to say "we are all equal" as it is to start thinking "we are all equal." If we really want a change and to end racism we got to change the way we think, change our own mindsets and loosen the grip we have on identity. This tight grip we have on identity is the cause of so much prejudice.

What I want to know is how can those demonstrating, looting and vandalising justify their actions. It seems every protest since the 1960's has had the same level of looting. This can't be the norm as when people protested about a Black Police Officer killing Justine Damond, nobody attacked, torched or looted.

I've lived long enough and have seen enough riots and mass protests to know that nothing will change from this. People seem to have really short memories about this kind of thing. Occupy Wall Street was a lot bigger and nothing came of that, either. In another 5 or 10 years it will happen again.

That said, I don't really like the way people are focusing in on this one incident, which was genuinely horrible, while ignoring the staggering amount of deaths from black on black violence. How can anyone sincerely claim to care about black lives if they're not addressing that first and foremost? People only seem to care when a police officer is involved.

MLK did say that "rioting is the language of the undheard" BUT at the same time he dosn't condone it and expresses it as a vicious cycle. Also, I think the rioters and looters are just people taking advantage of the situation. Apparently majorit of the looters aren't from those areas.

"Black on black violence"? You've got to be fucking kidding me.

It's mind blowing to me that it took Donald Trump's presidency and a goddamn global pandemic to make people care about black people. I'm an ally and I'll try to help my fellow white people understand things as much as possible, but at a certain point it's willful ignorance on your part.

Looting makes perfect sense when our corporations run everything. Imagine the state killing people and your response is to defend billion dollar corporations. Fuck Target. Burn it all down.

That's pretty funny coming from someone who doesn't even live somewhere where any of this matters. I live in one of the most racially diverse areas of the US. Black on black violence is something that personally affects me in real life, not just as a matter of discussion. Spare me your outrage for giving a shit.

Are you saying that someone's location automatically invalidates their opinion on any given topic? Bro LMFAO do you possess critical thinking skills? You've got to be kidding me lmfao did you know black people are generally universally hated? I bet this comes as a surprise to you, but there are black people in Ireland too.

Speaking of, there's this crazy feature where you can set your location to anywhere in the world. It's almost as if you don't have to be completely truthful about your personal life on the internet. Fucking crazy. You really think I'm in Ireland? I'm fucking DYING LMFAO

"I live in one of the most racially diverse areas of the US." Cool I guess? I'm from a majority black city, but you don't see me using those people as tokens to win me arguments. We are not authorities on black issues.

Black on black violence is such a moot fucking point and it is EMBARRASSING that you would bring that up in the face of systemic police violence against black people. You clearly have a poor understanding of statistics. We could probably have a conversation about white on white crime, but that's not the point, is it? We're talking about systemic violence against black people.

It's also embarrassing as hell that you're not even trying to respond. You just think that because I'm listed as outside the US my opinion is invalid. You think you can undermine me like that? Shameful. Try again, my guy.

A lot of projection there. Caring about one thing isn't proof of not caring about another.

I don't really care to have a debate with someone who uses hyperbole and anger to get their points across.

Speaking of which, research suggests that the more people interact with people of a different group, the more likely they are to be tollerant. Its oftentimes people that have little or only negative experiences that are likely to be racist or prejudiced towards specific groups

Good point, Norwegian! Eckhart Tolle says something like 'to fight prejudice we need to loosen the tight grip we have on our identities.' Basically; we're all individuals, there's more to a person than their identity. Also, someone said to me "I think all people should have the benefit of the doubt" I feel that a lot of US Police Officers aren't thinking that way. : - (

Bill Clinton gave Occupy Wall Street some free advice: use the system to work toward the desired changes, run for office, try to get laws passed, like the Tea Party did, instead of just protesting from the outside, or they'd get nowhere and fizzle out and nobody was going to remember them in 10 years. Which is basically what happened, but Bernie Sanders has basically done what Clinton suggested. He's getting his followers elected.

+ Twitter says fake "Antifa" account was run by white supremacists

Twitter has shut down multiple accounts that it says were operated by a white supremacist group posing as liberal groups encouraging violence.

Twitter said the white supremacist group Identity Evropa used one fake account, @Antifa_US, to call for violence in majority white suburbs, in the name of the Black Lives Matter movement. The account's removal was first reported by NBC News.

"This account violated our platform manipulation and spam policy, specifically the creation of fake accounts. We took action after the account sent a Tweet inciting violence and broke the Twitter Rules" the company said.
