Some nights you lie awake, dazed and unaware the world is spinning
At these times your mouth will be silent, and your mind will be numb
If only every moment could be so still and quiet
You don't pause between words.
You go on and on and on
If I could take a needle and thread to your lips
Maybe you could learn to appreciate the sounds of calm
Instead of fearing it, like you do on those endless nights.
Nights where your thoughts race, yet go no where.
They each retrace their steps to pull up guilt you willed to sleep
Pain and suffering, loss and remorse
Emotions eat away at your heart
Apologies don't mean anything in the dark
