It’s so strange

It’s so strange how different things are
When you take a step back and view them from afar
It’s so strange how different people can be
When you shackle their wrists and tell them they’re free
It’s so strange how little men talk big
And men with no hair take such pride in a wig

It’s strange how with a look a room can seem colder
And how some people grow up, but others just get older
It’s strange how people get offended when they misunderstand your meaning
When you can smile to the face of that person, when underneath you’re seething
It’s strange how we can say something and then forget that we said it
Go against something but in the face of your enemy defend it

It’s strange how people pretend they are wise
But then ignore the consequences of what they advise
It’s strange how people claim humans have the higher power
Abuse it, take over, destroy and devour
It’s strange how we hate what we choose not to understand
How we blame the people around us, when things don’t go as we planned

It’s strange how so many things make so little sense
How we miss so many chances ‘coz we’re always on the defence
