Why do people within the alternative community think it is okay to gatekeep.
Am sorry the alternative community has a ton of sub-genres from punk, goth, horror punk, shock rock, death and black metal and everyone likes and dislikes bands, everyone has their own individual way of dressing.
Can't we just be happy that alternative sites exist and allow us all to connect with others, instead of bullying and making someone feel like they don't belong because of how they dress or look isn't gothic enough, isn't punk enough, isn't emo enough.. Rotting corpses forbid the purification and gas leak that someone has to follow and obey someone order for a site to be kept to one style and one set of music taste only.
Gatekeeping on alternative sites needs to 🛑

Im so glad non of us suffer any bullshit here. I just recently mentioned somewhere around here that someone told me its not good to mention other sites on other sites which i think is pathetic.

Thats a good question.
To put it in simple text (Everyone's a critic)
Long rant below
Some people are very passionate about things. Now, the reality however. A plot in a movie, book or video game for that matter. It only exist as a finished product, that if you where to replay it, it would be like living in a loop. Unlike reality where life changes everyday (Unless you do the same job day by day i guess).
But i think a good philosophical movie on that, is "Groundhog Day 1993" movie. Where one eventually embraces the hardships to find true happiness, rather than indulging in joys and self gratifications.
If you havent seen it. Its worth a watch!
Alternatively. If you wonder, why people act like their only opinion is the only fact? Either they are chaotic (Sometimes thats not a bad thing though, being chaotic. Example is if you have objective criticism to how something sounds, movie plot thats not as good as original one, or video game design. But it has to be constructive and make sense)
Then again, you could always have personal reasons for not liking something, which is fine aswell.
But then you have orc like in nature. Some call them chuds. But not worth wasting my time on. If i get personally confronted i would just let them have a piece of my mind. But if i can avoid it, i would just not talk to them. If anything, the most saddest form of existence. Is there are actual people in a highly capitalist country like USA, who thinks making lots of hate videos (clickbaits). Which means earning cash on trying to make other real humans miserable... Is somehow gonna make their life feel better for some reason? Without any actual consideration to people's feelings. Not gonna mention names but "Facts dont care about your feelings" only makes sense if we are talking about... math or something constructive. To simply ignore the human factor would be to assume they are irrelevant, or that they shouldnt even have those feelings to begin with, with whatever one wants to dictate to them. Its insincere, disingenuous and untrue. Personal experience are as real as facts are in a subject.
Sorry for my rant. But i find it sad is my take.

I understand what you're talking about but never encountered that on any of the Gothic Social Networks I've been on.
Have you experienced any of this?

It's only natural that the Egoic Collective Mindset is going to form in the Gothic community, even though we naturally sway away from that...we're only huma and it's going to happen. 😒

There's a Goth on YT that has a channel under her name, Angela Benedict -

I'm pretty sure she would've talked about this issue in one of her videos.
Either way she's worth checking out. Most of her YT videos are about social issues in the Goth community.

Hi all, sorry I not replied to any of these comments, I have been busy for the past few weeks and months, due to family stuff, mental health break etc.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this post and I agree with almost everyone, but I will reply to some people.
Karl.. unfortunately I have experienced it on Vampire Freaks and Goth wire. See I do not mind naming the gothic social sites because if they not changed the terms and conditions on here, we are allow to mention different sites. I was constantly told on my 13 years on and off VampireFreaks and my 2 years on Gothwire that I did not belong on there because of my music taste ranging from Ragtime, rock n roll, hard rock, soft rock, heavy metal, doom metal, hair metal, punk, post punk, sleaze and glam rock, black metal and so on. also mixing alternative style within my look was making gothic fashion a joke. which was funny before the gothic fashion came from British punk rock scene in the 1970's.
I am glad that you did not experience any of it Karl, but me and many others on those gothic social sites did experience shit like that, because they knew they would get away it because they were either close friends of the owner or admin team.
Also Karl, there is a few YouTubers that are gothic, emo, scene and punk that I used to watch but don't anymore because I can't agree with them, but when people disagree with them in the comments, those people seem to disappear from their channel and comments for good. So it kind of tells me what kind of person someone is when things like that happen.
Crower9 - Mate I completely agree with you. Life does change for all of us, unless we do the same job every day. However, individualism should not change, it can be adapted to daily life because of a job, toning it down because of children and family.
I mean I don't wear tones of makeup, style my hair or wear full out style every day because some days I like to sit back and relax in Pj'S, Jogger bottom, looking like a mess from the bottom of the swamp snake pit, but it does not stop me from expressing who I am and loving my music taste and that.
See I have friends who just listen to one style of music, but they know me, I could sit or be around them in full glitter makeup, leopard print shirt, black skinny jeans, cowboy boots, massive fluffy hair and looking like I should be long in Whitesnake or Quite Riot.. and rocking out to there music like Emperor, Immortal, Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir, The Speciemen, Siouxsie and The Banshee, NOFX, Sex Pistols, etc because I like all type of music within our community and yes my guilty pleasures are 70's disco and some 80's pop stuff

It sounds like you were on those sites a lot longer than I was so experienced this kind of negativity a lot more. I'm sorry you had to experience that, some people have a sh*tty attitude and know they can get away with it online.
The only reason I missed out on this stuff is because I wasn't on VF so much until it's final days. But I did notice how freely people felt to leave bitchy comments on articles and posts. 😢
Nice to meet you BTW. 👌😊👍

😂 Yeah, nah. That might come across as a bit snobbish. Although....I did have a problem on GW with people setting up fake profiles pretending to be Goth. It's annoying because we had nothing in common and they would gave vague and stupid answers to questions. I figured they were trying to scam me but don't know what they got out of it....😒
