There is an old saying, that if you love someone you should set them free. A more true piece of advice was never spoken and it should be heeded. However in reality, having to do this is the hardest thing you will ever have to do. When the person you love most in the world has moved on and found someone else that makes them happy, you are left with a very tough choice. Try let go of your love, or fight for it. Unfortunately for some the latter is not always possible, especially when you are no longer wanted by that person, and fighting for them will only cause them pain. But then the former is hardly possible either, for true love never leaves your heart and will linger on. So where does this leave you? A dried out husk on the roadside of life, a lonely wonderer for the rest of your days.......?

For those of us that have a strength of character beyond what is accepted as normal, maybe there is another path, another outcome. You will remain close to the person you care most about, you can offer your unwavering support in times of need and be their anchor amidst the storms of life. The result of all this will be at worst, a strong friendship. One where your love is returned, albeit not in the way you would like. This kind of friendship will last a life time, which in itself is a worthy reward. However there is always that chance that your strength of character, unwavering loyalty and devotion will make that special someone realise that you are worthy of their love.

Affairs of the heart are never easy and the path of love is sometimes littered with the broken and hurt. For those brave few, with the unending determination this path is nothing but a testing ground. A place to prove your worth and become the person your true love deserves.
