Bleached

My moments of levity cause me such pain, when my smile escapes blades strike at my brain.
Memories flood synaptic paths, depositing debris and silt from my past

I’m bleached of all colour, I’m black and white
I’m bleached of all colour, I’m dead to this life

Dredging up lost heart aches and pain, this flotsam and jetsam will drive me insane
I flounder and scrabble under its weight, as my brain reverses date by date

I’m bleached of all colour, I’m black and white
I’m bleached of all colour, I’m dead to this life

So I cage my grin and bury my smile becoming mindless and dead for a while
Bleach of all colour, I’m bland I’m unkind, but at least I won’t lose what’s left of my mind
