COF (Cradle of Filth).

I don't like the deep death metal voice, it's ridiculous but.....the theme of the band fascinates me. The music is good, the lyrics are great....I just can't help myself. (An obsession with Vampires helps).

I collect their albums and had two of their t-shirts that I loved but they shrunk in the wash. 😢

They're the band I was complaining about a while ago because their albums used to be everywhere and available all the time.....now you can't find them!!

That's something that's changed since I was young; Country music was considered "daggy" and one would be ridiculed or chastised for listening to it. But in the last 10yrs I've met alternative types and Muso's who openly admit liking some Country music and it was socially acceptable.

I'm not a fan but I do find this heartening.

You know there's a difference between Country with Country & Western music?

Hi OstaraKrux, there's some good country music out there, I get side-eyed for saying so! I like Jason Isbell, Marylou Harris, and Dolly of course. EDIT: Meant to say Emmylou

My guilty pleasures are all the Y2K Disney pop artists, so Britney, Christina, NSync, BSB, 5ive, Nobody's Angel, Steps, ATeens, you get the idea! Lots of people wince at this too but it's just fun to me

I like the Blues. When I was doing a search for a good Blues Playlist on YT a band called Dead South popped up. I listened to them and really liked it!

Dead South is country music though and the funny thing is, giving the name and the sound of the band you'd think they were from KY but...they're from Canada!

I'm also glad someone brought up this topic, there's just so many more dimensions to the music world that I feel people in the scene tend to ignore at least in my experience. Like this one girl really hated me for singing a Celine Dion song, it just wasn't cool enough for her haha

The hate for country seems to mostly be for the pop radio stuff, which I cannot stand either lol

I'll check out Dead South, thanks!

True. My Dad's a Country fan and often points out the difference between Country and Western.

I blame my cousin! When I went to visit him in Indiana, he kept getting me to pick Country and Western songs from his albums, he'd ring the radio station and request the songs....I wasn't as enthusiastic about it. 🤣

I hear you, my dad was into slow-paced classical music so he'd play that in the car and it'd energize him but put everyone to sleep lol oh there was this one classical radio dj that I think knew only a few people were listening so in between songs he went on an insane rant like he was throwing his innermost thoughts to the wind. He ended on saying basically how he thinks we should all do drugs Don't agree, but I wish I called to let him know it made me smile haha

That's hilarious!

Down here we have an alternative radio station called JJJ. I used to listen to them because they play a lot of alternative music. I discovered albums new albums from The Tea Party and NIN because on JJJ. They're more popular now because they promote local music more.

But they play a lot of hip hop, pop and just really mellow music. You know? The kind a Hipster would listen to. It's not bad but it's not my thing so I listen to community radio. They play the Blues on the weekend and I listen to that on the way to work, it calms my nerves....
